主要從事造山帶結構-構造解析,扎根新疆,聚焦中亞造山帶西段,通過解剖造山帶弧前盆地、俯沖-增生雜巖、高壓/超高壓變質帶等地體的物質組成、構造變形、以及運動學特征,厘定其大地構造單元屬性、時空配置關系,以及構造古地理演化。服務于“一帶一路”新疆-中亞跨境礦產能源領域的基礎研究。
主持國家自然科學基金項目2項、科技部第三次新疆綜合科考子課題1項、新疆維吾爾自治區(qū)重點研發(fā)項目課題1項、中國科學院西部青年學者項目1項。
